Bachelor of Health Science- Occupational Therapy Track
Bachelor in Health Sciences leading to a Professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy

Students who complete this program will be awarded a Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) – Occupational Therapy Track. Students who complete the BHS-OT track degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA in the upper division courses are guaranteed admission to the Professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. Upon completion of the Professional MS in OT, individuals are eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy examination (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR). Most states, including Florida, require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses, such as Florida, are usually based on the successful completion of the NBCOT certification examination.

The BHS-Occupational Therapy Track is designed for students who have completed an AA from a Florida state institution or students who have completed at least 60 transferable credits and meet the University core Curriculum, and who have successfully completed the OT Track prerequisite requirements. The program is limited access and all admission decisions are made by the OT faculty.

The BHS Occupational Therapy Track coursework is designed to provide  students with academic preparation and practical, clinical or community experiences. Because of the constraints of laboratory space and the personal attention required in scheduling and supervising practical experiences, class enrollment is restricted and only FULL TIME study is available. Students enter the program only in the FALL SEMESTER due to the specialized sequencing of courses.

Students who already hold a bachelor's degree in a field other than occupational therapy will be eligible for the Professional Master's in Occupational Therapy degree. If you hold a bachelor degree please contact our office for a separate information/application packet.
